New: Light Mode and Language Selection in Version 2.1

We're excited to announce the release of Shmeetings version 2.1, which brings two highly requested features: Light Mode and Language Selection for summary outputs and suggested questions.

Light Mode

Light Mode vs Dark Mode: it's a personal preference that many feel strongly about. Until now we were pretty firmly in the Dark Mode camp. But after playing around with both options and getting feedback from users, we're starting to go towards the light.

To switch between Light and Dark Mode, simply click the sun/moon icon in the bottom right corner of the app. Your preference will be saved for future sessions.

Here's how the whole app looks like in Light Mode, with the settings menu open:

And for those who prefer the darker aesthetic, here's a reminder of how Shmeetings looks in Dark Mode:

Language Selection

Version 2.1 also introduces the ability to explicitly select the language for your summary outputs and suggested questions.

Previously, the summary LLM (which by default is Meta's Llama 3.2) would auto-detect the language of your live transcription, and then use that language for the summary and suggested questions.

But sometimes the auto detection would mix things up, especially in multilingual meetings. Now, you can manually select the desired language from a dropdown menu in the settings.

You can pick from 80+ languages for your summary and suggested questions.

Meeting Language vs Summary Language

Language selection is also useful if you want the summary in a different language than the one spoken in the meeting.

For example, your meeting might be in Dutch, but the summary and the suggested questions can be generated in Russian.

Keep in mind that the transcription language still relies on the AI model to interpret the spoken words, so the accuracy may vary depending on the model's proficiency in that language.

We hope you enjoy these new features in Shmeetings version 2.1! As always, we're eager to hear your feedback and suggestions for future improvements. And let us know if you're a Light Mode or a Dark Mode kind of person.
